Hop on the ferry to Cozumel
Stroll down to Playa del Carmen's dock and hop on the ferry for a short ride that will leave you off at the island of Cozumel. This famous island is well-known around the world for good reason- great nightlife, fantastic diving spots, sea turtle nesting beaches, intimate cenotes, natural reserves, pristine beaches and more!

Put on your dancing shoes
Playa del Carmen has a great nightlife that will keep you drinking, dancing and having fun well into the wee hours of the night. The after-dark scene is eclectic, with locales ranging from laid-back beer bars to sophisticated cocktail lounges. The nightlife is happening any night of the week, but for the most frenetic nocturnal scene, hop on over to nearby Cancun for a night.

Playa del Carmen is close to all sorts of natural parks and nature-themed attractions that give you an up-close experience with the area's diverse flora and fauna. Here are a just a few:

  • Xaman-Ha Aviary
    An aviary in which diverse tropical birds - parrots, macaws, flamingos, etc. - live in meticulously recreated natural habitats. Also other animals and sea creatures, as well as walking trails.
  • Xel-Ha Water Park
    A natural aquarium combining underground bodies of water and wide open sea. Fantastic scuba diving spot; also has lagoons, caves, jungle, archaeological sites and more.
  • Xcaret
    Eco-archaeological park that combines Maya ruins, rituals and culture with lagoons, beaches and all sorts of animals, ranging from jaguaras to sea turtles, spider monkeys and macaws.
