Numbers / Números
Do you need help with how to say the numbers in Spanish? Not a problem at all as, on this page, you will find a wide range of examples which pass from ordinary numbers to fractions to ordinal numbers. An ideal tool if you need to buy something, or count in any way!
A key piece of information: the first ten numbers can seem a little complicated but, after twenty, they are much easier and it will not be necessary to memorize all of them. It will simply be enough to combine the number from the set of ten and its unit! With a helpful pattern like this to remember you will be able to start remembering how to say all of the numbers very quickly. Once you start to notice it, you may be surprised about how often we have to use numbers in every day conversation: for example, you might want to tell someone your age or ask for theirs; you might want to check the time or schedule something for a certain day of the month; you will need to know how much you are supposed to pay when you get to the till in a shop; you might have to tell a shop assistant your shoe or garment size if you are trying something on and they need to get the stock for you; you might have to tell an assistant how many items you want, or how many drinks for the table in a bar; and so on and so forth. It really is surprising how many ways you can use numbers, and there are not many alternatives that you can use to escape a lack of knowledge in this part either!
It is good practice to start counting in Spanish as often as possible, so that you get the pattern right in your head and begin to be able to call up numbers out of sequence as well. Once you are able to translate a number into Spanish without even thinking about it, you will find that it is a lot easier to go about daily life in a Spanish speaking country without any troubles or moments of confusion with other speakers!
