Getting to Quito

By plane
Quito's airport, the Aeropuerto Internacional Mariscal Sucre, is located less than 10 kilometers from the city and has flights to and from numerous destinations throughout the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. To get from the airport to the city center, you can take any J.L. Mera or Juan L. Mera bus that passes by the stop, which you'll find across the street from the airport exit. Otherwise, a short taxi ride is your best bet.

*Quito is currently constructing a brand new international airport located 25 kilometers to the northeast. It is set to begin operations in 2010.

By bus
Bus travel throughout Ecuador is both popular and quite inexpensive. If you're planning to travel to / from Quito or take a day trip via bus, your destination will determine which of the two main bus terminals to go to. The Terminal Quitumbe, in southern Quito, operates all routes heading south of Quito. The terminal Carcelén handles buses to and from the Carchi and Imbabura provinces.
