Famous actor Benicio del Toro was born in 1967 in San Juan, Puerto Rico under the full name Benicio Monserrate Rafael de Toro Sánchez. He is famous for his acting in big films such as Sin City, Che, Traffic, The Usual Suspects and Snatch, among many others.
He was born of Spanish and Italian descent, coming from a successful family of lawyer parents. He originally started to study business in San Diego, at the University of California, but his success with a drama course led to his decision to drop out of school to pursue an acting career.
Benicio del Toro's first roles were relatively minor, playing guest roles in shows such as Miami Vice. However, it wasn't two long before he landed roles in two popular films: Big Top Pee-Wee and 007: License to Kill. From there he was cast in film after film throughout the early 90's.
It was in 1995, however, that his film career began to skyrocket thanks to his breakthrough role in The Usual Suspects, a successful film that earned him awards and praise as an actor. It was from this point that he started to received bigger and stronger roles in major studio films such as The Funeral, Basquiat, The Fan, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Snatch and The Pledge. In more recent years, he has starred in films like The Hunted, 21 Grams, Sin City, Che and Silence, showing no signs of slowing down.
Over the course of his successful career he has earned numerous awards and nominations, ranging from the Independent Spirit Awards to the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Cannes Film Festival, the Screen Actors Guild and others.
