The Mendoza Experience
Wine-tasting
The pleasurable pursuit of wine tasting is a great method for immersion in Latin America, and with Mendoza being located in the heart of Argentina's "wine country", it is quite literally surrounded by bodegas that offer tours and wine-tastings. The majority of these wineries are accessible by buses; routes to the Luján de Cuyo region leave from the Mendoza bus station while routes to the Maipú bodegas leave from La Rioja street.
Outdoor activities
Mendoza's location in the foothills of the spectacular Andes mountains provide opportunities to participate in all sorts of outdoor activities. Enjoy spectacular mountain scenery while trekking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, etc. Plus the nearby Andean town of Potrerillos is a great base for whitewater rafting excursions of varying levels and durations.
Relax
40 kilometers west of Mendoza is the town of Cacheuta, famous for its natural mineral hot springs. Take a day trip and have a nice warm soak!
