受身を表す場合、英語には能動態と受動態の2種類あったのを覚えてますか？違いを見てみましょう:
- 能動態: The best team wins the game./一番のチームが試合に勝つ。
- 受動態: The game is won by the best team./その試合は一番のチームが優勝する。
スペイン語では、口語でも筆記でも受動態が一般的です。スペイン語の受動態を表す方法はいくつかあります。
SER + 過去分詞
英語の受動態と同じ要領の、より早く、簡単なスペイン語の受動態の形です。動詞の行為を受ける物もしくは人の後にser動詞と過去分詞を置きます。その動詞の行為を行う人もしくは物を述べる場合は過去分詞の後に前置詞 porの後に続けます。
この際、ser 動詞は先立つ主語に、過去分詞は修飾する名詞の数・性に合わせることをお忘れなく！
- La carrera es ganada por el caballo más rápido.
(The race is won by the fastest horse./そのレースは最も速い馬が勝つ。) - Estos libros fueron escritos por mi autor favorito.
(These books were written by my favorite author./
これらの本は、私の大好きな作家が書いた。)
SE
スペイン語受動態の第2のタイプは、少々ややっこしいかもしれません。特定の主語やグループに関する際に用いられるこの受動態は、通常一般化するために使われます。この文章のタイプは、一般的に彼ら/あなた/人々/人間が行う行為を表現します。例えば:
この場合、動詞は3人称単数 (él, ella, usted)、もしくは複数(ellos, ellas, ustedes) の形を必ず取ります。どちらになるかは、その後に来る名詞に合わせます。例えば下の第一の例文の場合、 los perrosと複数形なので動詞 permitirは三人称複数se permitenとなります。一方、下の最後の例文の場合、 ropa de hombreは単数ですので、動詞venderは三人称単数のse vendeとなるのです。
- No se permiten los perros en el hotel.
(Dogs are not allowed in the hotel./犬はホテルへ許可されません。) - Se alquilan pisos en este edifico.
(They are renting flats in this building / There are flats for rent in this building / Flats are being rented in this building./このビルには空ピソがあります。) - En esta oficina se come a las 14:30.
(In this office people eat at 14:30 / In this office one eats at 14:30/
この会社では昼食は14時30分に食べます。) - Se vende ropa de hombre en esta tienda.
(Men's clothing is sold in this store./
このお店では男性用の洋服が売られています。)
HAY QUE
英語の"One must... "にほぼ当たる、必要性を表す表現「hay que」。特定の人を指定せず全体に言う場合にこの表現を使います。この表現の使い方は:
hay + que + 動詞不定形
- Hay + que + estudiar mucho para sacar buenas notas.
(One must study a lot to get good grades./
良い成績を得るにはたくさん勉強しないと。) - Hay + que + hacer ejercicio y comer bien.
(One must exercise and eat well./
エクササイズをして良く食べなければなりません。) - Hay + que + ser optimista en situaciones difíciles.
(One must be optimistic in difficult situations./
難しい状況の時にも楽天的に行かなければなりません。)
